So I just upgraded the home PC, I still prefer desktops to laptops, to a new Intel Core i7 setup. I also finally picked up some SATA drives instead of the antiquated IDEs, and a 6GB triple channel kit for RAM. So far I have to say this thing is a monster. It is fast, Vista 64-bit boots in 30 seconds give or take. I’m still working to figure out why my bios says my drives are IDE, but they are running fast so I am not complaining yet....
Read MoreNew version of Wordpress
For anyone out there that is interested and unaware, there is a new version of Wordpress out, 2.7. I just upgraded this site to use it, painless as always, andso far the new version is good. The admin interface has been overhauled and it is very easy to use. They added a lot of panels that you can show/hide and all kinds of flash. Don’t let it fool you it’s not just adding some sexiness to the platform for the sake of doing so,...
Read MoreBeen a while since I updated
It’s been a while since I have done an update, and happily there is a reason. It is not just laziness as is generally the cause. I spent a few weeks working on the new theme, made some great headway, then I hit some roadblocks. Those roadblocks caused me to go back to my original idea for this tie, and the result was a new book, Ruby on Rails for Dummies. Apparently I am a dummy, and this book seems to be what I am looking for. It...
Read MoreStill working on the site.
It’s October again, I am sure everyone has noticed that by now. The Agile Development book has been tossed back a couple months thuis dashing my hopes of startign fresh with Rails 2.0, well 2.1 really. This is written for an older version of RoR, so I’ll learn the old system and then learn the new on my...
Read MoreUpgrading to Wordpress version 2.6.2
Well for some reson the thing that downloaded and installed Wordpress from my host decided it wanted to get 2.6.1, and version 2.6.2 is out. We all know what that means, upgrade. Yes I know upgrading for no reason is not a good idea, but hey, I wanted to see how difficult it was (it wasn’t), and what needed to be done (not much). So now the blog is version 2.6.2, it took all of 2 minutes to accomplish. Even though this was simple to...
Read MoreHello wo….well you get the idea.
Well the site is back up, again, not running rails these days however. A new rails app is in the works, one written from scratch, by me, no more messing around. So this is the story so far. I have tried Goldberg, Mephisto, and made an attempt at Typo ( the blog not Typo3). They all failed for their own reasons. Goldberg was too bloated and all in the end not easy to manipulate. Mephisto was awesome, it’s like Wordpress on Rails. In...
